About Michael Weatherly

 

Michael Weatherly is a Minnesota based contemporary printmaker who was born in 1966 in the small southwestern Minnesota town of Holland. He further his education at the University of Minnesota Morris obtaining a BA in Art history and minor in Studio art with an emphasis in printmaking. While at UMM he also studied painting under John Stuart Ingle.

During college Michael discovered the printing process of mono-printing and currently incorporates this printmaking technique with manipulated digital images. His art is characterized by vibrant colors, material elements and stark black lines.

Weatherly currently lives in Elbow Lake, MN. He has been the recipient of several artist grants including the McKnight Foundation Artist Grant, the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Grant and Individual Artist Grants from the Lake Regions Arts Council. He has exhibited his work both locally and nationally and had recent solo exhibitions in Minnesota and has participated in group shows including Altered Esthetics (Minneapolis, MN), the University of Minnesota Morris (Morris, MN), Lake Regions Arts Council Gallery (Fergus Falls, MN), Minneapolis Institute for the Arts (Minneapolis, MN), and The Giles Gallery (Richmond, KY).
